Representatives from Fullfledge Ecology School will be available in the Hub at lunchtime on Thursday 10 May to explain their vision for a ground-breaking school in Suffolk for 3-18 year olds, ensuring there is another school in the area for parents to choose from.
A group of teachers and parents have been developing the vision for a ground-breaking school in Suffolk for 3-18 year olds. In February 2012 they submitted a proposal to the Department for Education to open a Free School in September 2013. The proposal has been shortlisted and they are now preparing their case for the next stage.
Their approach will be based on Steiner’s view of child development with a matching Waldorf curriculum that inspires children with learning that meets the childrens’ interests and all-round needs at any given time. There are many parallels with the successful approaches adopted by Scandinavian education systems such as Finland and Denmark. The integrated use of the Arts and the outdoors will be a distinctive feature of the school and a well-proven means to support excellent educational outcomes.

NEUROTECHNOLOGIES:
INTERVENING IN THE BRAIN
“Technologies and devices that interact directly with the brain are being developed to help treat diseases such as stroke, dementia, obesity and depression.
But they are also being developed for military and computer gaming applications.
What are these technologies? How do they work, and what might be the social and ethical implication of intervening in the brain?”
This month our guest speaker Mr Hugh Whittall, Director of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics
will be speaking on the subject above, come in and join us for discussion of this fascinating subject.
First buses will be in the Hub on Wednesday 2 May to re-promote their weekly and monthly discounted bus tickets, as well as answering questions on their service.
Members of The Adastral Park Sailing Club will be available at lunchtime in the Hub on Thursday 3 May.
On Saturday 23 June we are once again opening the gates from 11:00 – 17:00, for the family day.
Tickets are free but, following the success of last year’s charity event, we are asking for a minimum donation of £1 per ticket with all proceeds going to Child Line, all attractions are free and there’ll be something for everyone.
Some of the treats we have lined up this year include a funfair, samba band, climbing walls, inflatables, mountain bike display, stunt plane, fire engine rides and much, much more. We are also running an Adastral World Record events which will take place outside the Hub. If you have any suggestions or challenging ideas you would like to arrange, then please e-mail atadastral.
You can have a maximum of six tickets (that includes babies and one for you) and your guests must be accompanied by you on the day.
You must collect your tickets during the week 11-15 June 12:00-13:30 from the Hub (if you’re based in Bibb Way we’ll contact you separately).
If you aren’t around that week, please arrange for a colleague to collect them for you. There will be no alternative dates or arrangements so please ensure you get them one way or another that week.
As always we are looking for volunteers to act as stewards, so if you would like to get involved for an hour or so on the day, please contact Adele Wyse if you can help.

Whether you decide to take part in memory of a loved one, to get fit or to enjoy a great night out with friends and family, you will be helping to ensure we can continue to provide services free of charge to the local community. The registration fee is £15 per person which includes a Midnight Walk t-shirt which will be posted to you before the event, refreshments en route, a Midnight Walk medal and a bacon roll and hot chocolate at the end of the walk!
