As you may have heard John Bishop (and friends) have a challenge to get from Paris to London by cycling, rowing and running. The first leg will be to cycle from Paris to Calais, then row from Calais to Dover and finally run from Dover to London. Clive’s team will be doing the same mileage as John in just one day at Adastral Park!

Everyone can take part in the challenge and we are looking for your support!

We would like to invite anyone based at Adastral to come along and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, just let us know if you would like to get involved in this challenge. We will have exercise bikes, rowing machines and treadmills in the Hub, and you can choose to do one or all three. Finally we will be having an external run at 10am around the park, which I will doing as well.

Health-Smart Ltd. will be undertaking free health checks on behalf of the NHS for people based at Adastral Park on 22-23 February in the Newton Suite, the Hub, subject to the following conditions;

• You are aged 40 – 74 (inclusive)
• You are a resident of Suffolk or registered with a Suffolk GP
• You have not had a full NHS Health Check within the last 5 years (including BMI calculation, blood pressure measurement, cholesterol test and overall cardiovascular risk score calculation)
• You have not been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease
• You are not suffering from the following conditions; high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation, high cholesterol, kidney disease, heart attack, kidney disease or failure, arterial disease (legs, neck aorta), diabetes mellitus or stroke
• You are not taking medication for; blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, kidney disease, heart disease, or to reduce cholesterol 

The health check consists of the following: 

• Weight, height, waist & hip measurement
• Calculation of BMI & waist / hip ratio
• Blood pressure tests
• Blood tests for cholesterol & glucose
• Personal & family medical history
• Lifestyle assessments – smoking, alcohol, diet and exercise
• Calculation of CVD risk score
• Communication of results and advice to patient
• Referral to GP or emergency services
• Referral to lifestyle programmes

Local band ‘The Invited’ will supply the entertainment, playing a popular mix of pop, rock and Motown from the 60s up to today and will also provide a disco to ensure the dance floor is full throughout the evening! A finger buffet is included, there’s a bar and a fantastic raffle with prizes that include golf at Ufford Park, theatre and cinema tickets, Ipswich Town FC tickets and more..

Tickets are £10 for adults; £5 for under 16’s. Doors open at 7pm. All proceeds from the night go to the RSPCA Suffolk East and Ipswich Branch who are self-funding and depend on donations and fundraising to continue their vital work helping abandoned, rescued and neglected animals through their Ipswich animal clinic and rehoming centre at Martlesham.
