Climate Week

One week to show how we can combat climate change – 21 to 27 March 2011

Here at Adastral Park, the Prospect @Adastral carbon club have organised a week of updates on the broad spectrum of topics which all impact on our climate.

  • Monday – How will our local climate be affected?
    • Jonathan Thompson Area Environment Planning Team leader with the Environment Agency will be talking about Adapting to Climate Change in Suffolk. He will cover what the current predicted changes are (Sea level Rise and water resource issues), what the Environment Agency’s role is and what is going on in Suffolk to adapt to these changes. There will be time for a question and answer session at the end.
Tuesday 5 April, 12:30 – 13:30, Alan Rudge Lecture Theatre
  • Tuesday – World Water Day
    • Water is a basic requirement for all life, yet water resources are facing increasing demands from users and changing climatic conditions. In 1992, the UN General Assembly designated 22 March of each year as the World Day for Water.
  • Wednesday – Energy day
    • Andrew Cassy, our Sustainability Champion, will be giving an informal update on the site energy usage and plans for tackling this huge climate contributor.
12:30-13:30, Hubble 2 (upstairs in the Hub)
  • Thursday – International day
    • Climate is not just local but will affect all parts of the globe. Visit the Hub stall to see what Prospect International engagement is doing to help
  • Friday – Travel Smart
    • Emissions from commuting and business travel account for up to 20% of our emissions and have a direct long term effect on the climate. What can you do to avoid just one journey each week to counter that impact?

There will be a stall in the Hub each lunchtime where you can find out more about climate change, the environment and what you can do to help. Come along and have a chat.

Contact Andrew Cassy, if you’d like to get involved.
