We are a school based in Sproughton, Ipswich for children 0-5yrs with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, currently supporting 22 children and their families. We receive no statutory funding and rely on the generosity of the general public for support. It costs approximately £7500 per child per year to access the services which are provided free of charge.

The Suffolk Robin Hood Game and Country Show is coming to Trinity Park on 6-7 October.  From jousting tournaments, horseback stunts and birds of prey displays, to air-rifle firing ranges, a medieval re-enactment village and the All About Dogs zone – this local event has something for everyone!

Find out more and pick up leaflets and vouchers in the Hub Concourse on 1 & 4 October.

The Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust are running Wellbeing Workshops on 22-26 October, from 12.20-13.30, in the Crucible Theatre, Adastral Park.  These workshops are one off, basic educational sessions and are open to everyone based at Adastral Park. There is no expectation that you participate beyond the level you feel comfortable with.  All sessions will include an explanation of the cognitive behavioural vicious circle, getting motivated for change by setting SMART goals, and provision of additional information for further help or support.

Please see Workshop Outlines for details of each Workshop.

For information on how to book your place on the Wellbeing Workshops, please refer to the monthly Latest News from Adastral Park – September 2012 EM e-mail.

Would you like to get your picture taken with a little bit of Olympic history?

As a supporting partner of the Olympic Torch Relay and a presenting partner of the Paralympic Torch Relay, BT has a collection of Olympic and Paralympic Torches – and those torches will shortly embark on a tour of BT.

The tour starts from 24 September to 3 October, in 17 BT building locations around the country.  All the events will take place over the lunchtime period for a couple of hours. This should allow plenty of time for you to hold the torches and get your pictures taken.

And, we’re hoping that each event will be attended by an official BT Torchbearer to share their stories with you.

We hope as many BT people will come along to enjoy the last bit of the Olympic history, so spread the word (and if you’re coming during working hours, don’t forget to check with your line manager).

The Suffolk Police Community Support Officers will be in the Hub at lunchtime on Monday 24 September.

The Olympic and Paralympic Tourch Tour will be coming to the Hub at Adastral Park on Tuesday 25 September, over the lunch period.  The event should be attended by an official BT Torchbearer to share their stories with you and will be an opportunity to have your picture taken with a little bit of Olympic history.

As one of the UK’s top ten users of energy, we have a responsibility to society and the environment to reduce the amount of energy we use.  Come along to the Energy  Roadshow in the Hub from 11:00 to 15:00 on Wednesday 26 September to find out how you can help.

Prospect will be in the Hub at lunchtime on Thursday 27 September.

A variety of delicious cakes will be on sale in the Hub on Friday 28 September, from 10.00-12.00. Raffle tickets will also be on sale for a novelty cake.  All proceeds will go to Macmillan.

BT Volunteers

Thanks to a small band of BT volunteers we were able to assist over 100 scouts and other local volunteers to litter pick at our adopted Trimley Marsh estuary beach alongside the SWT reserve.

BT Volunteering duties included: manning the car park (Mittal Patel, Claire Mackinder & Afolabi Agbede shown in picture), driving the BT minibus (Ian Buxton, Alan Ritson, Louise Williamson) and assisting with the litter pick (Mark Mackinder, Carol Staunton & Noosha Richardson). Plus lots of other support from our partners: Ipswich & Felixstowe Scouts, Suffolk Wildlife Trust, Suffolk Coast & Heaths, Trimley Estates and all the other people who took part.

Wheelie bin and other rubbish collected

This years unusual finds included a crushed blue wheelie bin, gas canister, racing car tyre and safety hats. In all around a tonne of waste was recovered from the foreshore. As usual, most of the litter is plastic based which doesn’t bio-degrade, but eventually breaks down in to smaller and smaller pieces, sometimes over 100’s of years, which can then be injested by the fish and marine life.

Message in a bottle

And finally, the SWT wardens also found two seperate bottles with letters from Holland (see picture). The translation of the letter shown is between two girls and says ”

Dear Floor,

Ships sail to and fro
I think of you,
(I) throw my bottle in the sea
and (I) let my words
go to you
through the water (of the seas)

 Love from Sanne

” ( Thanks to Clazien Wezeman for the translation)

All in all another very successful and satisfying event. Join us next year, Saturday 21 September 2013, to help make an even bigger impact.
