Woodbridge Choral Society and Ipswich School Chapel Choir are celebrating by performing Britten’s Spring Symphony at Snape Maltings on 16 March at 7.30pm. The concert is in aid of Home Start.  Tickets will be available from choir members here at Adastra Park at lunchtime on 4 March in the Hub.

The Book People will be in the Hub from 11.00-14.30 on Tuesday 5 March.

2013 is the centenary of Benjamin Britten and is being marked by a series of special and exciting performances of his music, especially at Snape and Aldeburgh.

The concert also celebrates the 70th birthday of composer Howard Blake (composer of Walking in the Air, the music for The Snowman), by performing his Passion of Mary Oratorio. Howard Blake himself is to attend the concert.

Two groups of apprentices are working with teams to raise awareness and much needed donations for Scope, a charity that works with disabled people and their families around England and Wales.  If you have any good quality, unwanted items, please put them in a bag and bring them in to the Hub on Monday 25 February from 12:00-14:00.  For more information or to arrange the collection of a donation please contact emma.bird@bt.com or michael-james.platt-nolan@bt.com.

Helping Hand will have a stall in the Hub at lunchtime on Tuesday 26 – Wednesday 27 February.

Prospect will be in the Hub at lunchtime on Thursday 28 February.

Two groups of apprentices are working with teams to raise awareness and much needed donations for Scope, a charity that works with disabled people and their families around England and Wales. They have taken on the challenge of running a charity shop for a day and to help them make as much money as possible for Scope, they need as many stock donations as they can get to sell on the day. If you have any good quality, unwanted items, please put them in a bag and bring them in! They will also be holding a drop of session on Monday 25 February in the Hub from 12:00-14:00. However, Sam, Emma, Danielle and Michael-James are more than happy to come and collect donations from your desk, or donations can be dropped off with Emma and Sam on the 3rd floor of Orion or with Danielle and Michael-James in Adhara.  For more information or to arrange the collection of a donation please contact emma.bird@bt.com or michael-james.platt-nolan@bt.com.

There are no events currently planned in the Hub this week.

Quintiles will be undertaking free health checks and cholesterol test on behalf of the NHS for people based at Adastral Park on 18-22 March in Conference Room 1, Antares Building, subject to the following conditions;

  • You are aged 40 – 74 (inclusive).
  • You are registered with a GP based in Suffolk or are a resident in Suffolk.
  • You have not had an NHS Health Check within the last 5 years.
  • You are not taking medication for; diabetes, heart disease or heart failure, atrial fibrillation, stroke or TIA, kidney disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or arterial disease.

The health check consists of the following:

  • Weight, height measurements
  • Calculation of BMI
  • Blood pressure tests
  • Blood tests for cholesterol & glucose
  • Personal & family medical history
  • Lifestyle assessments – smoking, alcohol, diet and exercise
  • Calculation of CVD risk score
  • Communication of results and advice to patient
  • Referral to GP or emergency services
  • Referral to lifestyle programmes

A new FDP has been developed by TE to increase the capacity from the existing 24 Address Points to 32 Address Points.

The 32FDP has been developed to overcome the space constraints in joint boxes and increase the capacity of Address Points served.

On 21April 2013, whilst most of you are tucking into your Sunday lunch, 10 BT employees will be making their way around the gruelling 26.2 miles of the 2013 London Marathon.

The team have been training hard in the delightful English winter, come rain or snow, whilst also committing large amounts of their own time to fundraise for the NSPCC and Childline. There will be lots of fundraising events for the community to get involved in, taking place between now and the big day. Events will include bucket collections, competitions, raffles and pub quizzes.  A collection will be taking placed in the Hub on Friday 8 February.
