The Shark Tank promised a showcase of innovation and purpose-driven entrepreneurship. We invited five exciting startups to make business presentations to an esteemed panel of cybersecurity industry experts (BT executives and investors).

Attendees had the chance to listen and ask questions, as each company presented and demonstrated their company and the products or services they can offer.

The Shark Tank was a platform for engagement that helped spark conversations, engage in new partnerships, and even motivate other cybersecurity ideas. The event illuminated the potential for successful, impactful businesses that are not only financially viable but also contribute positively to the security of our society.

Andrea has worked in cyber for over 20 years across a number of roles. She was as an academic at the University of Bradford, where she designed and developed one of the first MSc Cyber Security degrees in the UK. She has worked as a cyber consultant for a number of organisations within the public and private sector and has been a cyber SME for KPMG.  Most recently she is a Co-founder of CAPSLOCK, an award-winning cyber security bootcamp. CAPSLOCK was founded in 2019, and started by raising investment of approximately £1m to support its launch in 2021. With a focus on removing barriers to career changing education, so far CAPSLOCK has reskilled over 700 learners from incredibly diverse backgrounds. CAPSLOCK has won multiple awards, including recognition for its reskill initiative with BT. Andrea sits on a number of advisory boards and was recently awarded full membership to the Chartered Institute of Information Security. She is passionate about supporting female founders and helping the cyber industry become a more diverse place to learn and work.

Matt has operated for 20 years within cyber space, concurrently 10 years as a military intelligence operator, and 3 years as a cyber specialist Officer within the British Army. He has worked in multiple sectors, such as Government, Military, Finances and Tech, and for the last 5 years he has developed his own start-up, bringing multiple products to market. Over the last year he has joined the exciting team as Sekoia, leading on international development across the globe, supporting multiple engagements from the Middle-East, Africa, at home in the UK, and as far away as Singapore and Australia.
