Suffolk Wildlife Trust

Suffolk Wildlife Trust is the county's nature charity - the only organisation dedicated wholly to protecting and restoring Suffolk’s wildlife and wild landscapes.

For over six decades, the Trust has led local nature conservation efforts in Suffolk and has saved some of the county's most important wildlife sites as nature reserves. In the past eight years, the Trust has spent over £7 million buying land for wildlife and currently cares for nearly 8,000 acres of some of Suffolk's most inspiring wild places. The Trust's nature reserves are open for everyone to enjoy whenever they wish, with no charge. Instead, nature-lovers are asked to become Suffolk Wildlife Trust members.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust's mission is to Bring Nature Back to the county, to help create a wilder Suffolk for animals and for people - at a time when wildlife is at a tipping-point and people we more disconnected from nature than ever before.

For animals and plants to thrive they need corridors of suitable habitat - river valleys, hedgerows, and gardens, where they can move safely through the landscape. In this sense, the Trust's nature reserves work as ecological hubs and they work closely with neighbouring landowners, communities, and partner organisations to create swathes of wildlife-rich countryside where wildlife can spill out into the wider landscape.

The Trust is also doing more work than ever to inspire and empower local communities to take action for nature. From supporting the wildlife in their green spaces to rewilding projects to create new nature havens, the Trust is uniquely positioned to help everyone create a wilder Suffolk.
