Attendees had the chance to listen and ask questions, as each company presented and demonstrated their company and the products or services they can offer.

The Shark Tank was a platform for engagement that helped spark conversations, engage in new partnerships, and even motivate other sustainable ideas. The event illuminated the potential for successful, impactful businesses that are not only financially viable but also contribute positively to our planet's wellbeing.

Allye provides distributed energy storage at the grid edge working in partnership with electricity networks to accelerate decarbonisation of the grid while helping commercial and residential customers to lower energy costs by up to 50%.

Our intelligent energy storage systems reimagine how batteries are connected, distributed and used. Flexible and modular, our batteries are self-learning, managed via the cloud to maximise cycle life and arbitrage on electricity prices.

Using digital twins, we deploy machine learning and AI to optimise behaviour and performance as a collective of assets, to deliver benefits at an individual level to the end user and the energy network at a system level.

Cheesecake Energy Ltd (CEL) is developing the world's most sustainable energy storage technology for integrating renewable generation, microgrids and electric vehicle charging. Their breakthrough system uses off-the-shelf industrial hardware in a proprietary configuration to deliver an energy storage technology offering greater durability and lower cost than lithium-ion batteries. For commercial and industrial customers that are facing long waits for grid connections and high energy costs, their system unlocks new sites and developments by buffering what energy the grid can provide to meet peak demand, and making best use of onsite solar or wind generation.

Michael Simpson is Chief Commercial & Product Officer for Cheesecake Energy, and is one of the founders of the company. He leads customer- and partner-facing activities as well as technical product development. Mike has a degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Cambridge and a PhD in high-efficiency compression/expansion from Imperial College London. He previously worked on a range of jet engine design and analysis challenges for Rolls-Royce Plc., and conducted research into energy storage at the University of Nottingham.
