Alex Hislop is DHL Supply Chain's Chief Customer Officer for the UK & Ireland. Alex and his team are focused on delighting all of DHL's 400 customers, delivering great customer experiences and supply chain innovations. Equally, under Alex's leadership, the team are also focussing on future growth trends and supply chain transformations, new product development and new customers in new sectors.
At a wider industry level, Alex works closely with logistics and Government bodies to boost brand messaging and communications into Government ministries, as well as working to increase the understanding of careers in the supply chain industry, attracting new talent, and collaborating more across industry verticals and build a longer-term strategy around career development in logistics.
Alex joined DHL in 2004, after starting his career as a Finance Trainee with Unilever, setting up a fresh meal kit business in London. Working in Sweden for four years in local and Nordic roles before moving on to manage large Global customers in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods and Fashion sectors with large logistics spends. Alex's career then moved into the world of P&L management and operations, managing the Europe LLP business, before then moving on to manage Norway and Denmark as Country Managing Director.
Alex is hugely passionate about doing the right thing for customers and always maintaining a long-term, sustainable perspective with all customers. With that in mind, Alex also set up a partnership with SOS Children's Villages in Sweden, supporting youth employability topics for parentless- teenagers coming out of the Swedish education system and looking for their first job. He helped to create an award-winning forklift driver training programme for 18-year-olds and their families, which is now being rolled out to several other countries.
Outside of the workplace, Alex is married to Anna and has a 13-year-old daughter, Sofia, and a 10-year-old boy Oliver. They all moved from Sweden to the UK in September 2020, and like many others, bought a dog, Charlie, to keep them all company during COVID lockdowns. The family loves travelling back to Sweden in the summer, as well as to Montenegro for the sun, and to the Nordic mountains for some winter skiing.
