Beverley Toogood co-founded Almost Off Grid in 2004, a homebrewing business supplying kits, equipment and ingredients for customers to make their own wine, cider, beer, mead and liqueurs at home.

Since 2013 the Toogoods have fitted solar panels, energy storage batteries and a heat pump to their property, and have removed the gas supply. They have run a 100% electric car since 2018. These measures have significantly reduced the carbon footprint and cost of running their business and home.

Bev is a keen allotmenteer, keeps bees and makes her own clothes. She has also written books, articles and blogs sharing what she has learned about home brewing, preserving food, reducing waste and living more sustainably.
